H&M bans PFC use across all products
H&M Group has put a global ban on the use of Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs) across its supply chain from 1 January 2013, which means that all orders placed this date or later will be produced without PFCs. The move is an interesting one from H&M given that in the past it has sold water repellent fabrics, but has not focussed on stain repellant clothing or high performance rainwear.

US textile waste growth prompts recycling scheme
The latest statistics from the US’s Environmental Protection Agency estimate that a huge 13.1 million tons of textiles were thrown away in 2010, the most recent year for which statistics are available - 5.3 per cent of the country’s total municipal solid waste (MSW) generation.
