An alarming new report on garment manufacture in Bangladesh has painted a fiendishly complex, smoke and mirrors picture where major factory groups use ‘showcase’ factories with high safety and production standards to deal with Western buyers, while, behind the scenes, less compliant facilities carry out the majority of contract work.

Better Cotton approves €9 million spending

The Better Cotton Fast Track Program, whose committee includes Ikea, H&M, VF Corp and Marks and Spencer, has announced that this year 50 Better Cotton projects, reaching approximately 750,000 farmers, will work to produce nearly one million tons of Better Cotton, with project spending for the year approved for almost €10 million.
