Detox report goes to press
Detox Deconstructed, a three-month investigation into the issue of potentially toxic chemicals in the textile industry, has gone to press.
The 128-page report, which draws on numerous interviews with testing houses, textile standards, chemical companies, NGOs, clothing brands and other key stakeholders in the global textile industry, makes several recommendations as well as offering best practice advice for sustainability managers, textile buyers and others who require an understanding of this contentious issue.

GOTS certified facilities passes 3000
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has released its annual report for 2013 which, among other things, noted growth in the standard’s certified facilities. There are now 3,085 GOTS certified facilities across the globe.

Esprit steps up PFC removal efforts
The huge challenge posed by the use of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in stain repellent textiles and clothing has been highlighted by Esprit which has confirmed to Ecotextile News that it has this year expanded its in-house chemical testing laboratory to “enable detection of all PFC groups on product.”

Apparel sourcing at Texworld USA
Described as the largest apparel sourcing event in North America, Texworld USA returns to New York this July.
Designers, merchandisers, sourcing professionals and garment buyers will have the opportunity to see apparel fabrics, trims and accessories for children’s, women’s and menswear, with showcased textiles including cotton, denim, linen and wool.
Texworld USA will be held 22-24 July 2014 at the Javits Convention Center, 655 West 34th Street, New York.
