Levi sets 2020 circular economy goal
Levi Strauss & Co is to expand its clothing recycling initiative to all its mainline and outlet stores in the United States in a move which it claims will reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill and help create an infrastructure "that supports a circular economy by 2020."

India uses webcams to monitor polluters
 
The Indian government appears to be following the example of China by forcing polluting industries to clean up their act or face closure notices. The Environment Ministry has announced that more than 900 polluting industrial units – among them many textile, tannery, dyes and chemical businesses - have now fitted real-time monitoring devices, including web-cams, at their effluent and emission discharge points in compliance new government directives.

Pakistan textile industry "no longer sustainable"

Reports from Pakistan suggest significant numbers of textile mills in key manufacturing hubs such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi are closing down voluntarily because they are unable to compete with low cost rivals in the likes of Bangladesh and Vietnam – threatening millions of jobs in the process.
