UK retailers disclose new green targets

Sustainable cotton growth for Ikea
Swedish homewear textiles giant Ikea has more than doubled its use of sustainable cotton in 2013 to 72 per cent of the cotton it uses, up from 34 per cent in in 2012. The home textile giant also aims to source 100 per cent of its cotton from ‘more sustainable sources’ by the end of its financial year 2015.

Eco-Textile Labelling Guide 2014 - Published May 2014
The publishers of Ecotextile News will publish a new, updated and improved version of the Eco-Textile Labelling Guide in May 2014.
The printed ETLG is a 100 + page A5 booklet designed for manufacturers, retailers and buyers who are committed to reducing the impact of textiles on the environment and lists all the labels and environmental standards relevant to the global textile and clothing supply chain.
As well as covering raw materials, the 2014 edition of ETLG will offer information on social criteria, such as Fairtrade, Fair labour, SA8000 etc., and textile processing standards.
New additions will also include information on water standards, energy use, and sections on disposal and biodegradability.
