BERLIN - Germany experienced a significant plunge in clothing and footwear imports in 2023 with the short-fall offset by a surge in purchases from non-European fast fashion platforms such as Shein and Temu, new research suggests.

Germany’s Textile, Shoes and Leather Goods Trade Association (BTE) estimates that in 2023, German consumers bought around one billion fashion items from the Chinese e-commerce giants.
