YANGON - Myanmar's garment workers are under siege from the combined impacts of economic hardship and forced military conscription, according to a report from the Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc).

The hybrid think tank and consultancy firm says garment workers are enduring severe exploitation, compounded by the junta's suppression of unions, inflation and forced conscription, following the military coup of February 2021.
