AMAZON - Major fashion brands, including H&M, Zara, Adidas and Nike, are at risk of contributing to deforestation in the Amazon rainforest, according to a new report.
The Stand.Earth environmental campaign group carried out the study, entitled Nowhere to Hide, which examines fashion companies' links to tanneries and other companies involved in the production of leather and leather goods.
Researchers analysed nearly 500,000 rows of customs data and found that the brands, which also included Coach, LVMH, Prada, New Balance, Teva, UGG and Fendi, had multiple connections to the leather industry which they say props up Amazon deforestation.
