NORTHAMPTON - The largest ever project to map the leather supply chain is to be carried out to evaluate the industry's impacts on deforestation.
A collaboration of the Leather Working Group (LWG) trade body, National Wildlife Federation, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Gibbs Land Use and Environment Lab (GLUE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) is behind the initiative.
The goal is to support the leather industry to achieve deforestation-free and conversion-free (DCF) supply chains, by providing support for companies to shift to DCF leather supply chains.
