LONDON - The Better Cotton inititative claims an independent audit has revealed that licensed farms in Brazil - owned by companies accused of deforestation in Brazil - were not in breach of its standard.
However, the auditors called for better protection to ensure "land conversion" did not occur in areas of high conservation value and to ensure that producers were not engaged in acts of corruption.
