NORTHAMPTON - The latest version of the Leather Working Group (LWG) trade body's flagship environmental certification - featuring new social, traceability and chemical management requirements - is now in effect.
The Leather Manufacturer Audit Protocol 7, which aims to provide a more holistic assessment of a tannery’s performance, became mandatory for all audits of leather manufacturing facilities on 22nd August.
It features more robust criteria across the board and newly added requirements for social responsibility, effluent treatment, material traceability and chemical management, according to the LWG.
