BRISTOL – The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) has completed tests on over 200 knit, woven and laminated fabrics and yarns in a range of weights and constructions as it looks to develop a comprehensive textile fibre fragmentation database.
These test results for the new pilot database will be rolled out to consortium members shortly. The move comes on the back of work throughout 2020 by the TMS with the University of Leeds to develop a thoroughly tested, validated and internationally aligned method for measuring microfibre material loss from textiles.
TMC plans to share more information about the fibre fragmentation project and database in the lead up to and during the online Fibre Fragmentation Summit that it is hosting in partnership with Planet Textiles, from 23 – 26 March 2021.
