DHAKA - Leaders of the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh - the body set up to ensure garment factory safety following the Rana Plaza disaster - have cautiously expressed confidence in the abilities of its successor organisation to carry on its role.
They said it was vital that workers continued to play an active role, that all progress on safety work was publicly disclosed, and that suppliers were made to comply with the safety requirements.
The Accord has closed down its operations and handed over to a new body, the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC), which is led by the Bangladesh Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in association with brands and unions.
