MARYLAND - Researchers at the US-based National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have developed a new artificial intelligence-based database aimed at increasing textile recycling and reducing waste.

According to NIST, many new types of textiles, blended textiles, and incomplete or inaccurate labelling pose significant challenges when it comes to sorting textiles at recycling centres.
