BRUSSELS - A European Environment Agency analysis of the material footprint of goods and services consumed by European citizens found that clothing and footwear made up just 1% of the overall total.
The European Environment Agency (EAA) released an analysis, based on a decade’s worth of data, which found that the EU’s ‘material footprint’ – the amount of raw materials extracted to manufacture the goods and services its citizens consume – stood at 6.6 billion tonnes in 2021.
