PHNOM PENH - More than 50 garment workers have been injured after an overcrowded truck taking them to work overturned in Cambodia where campaigns have been launched to cut road deaths and injuries involving commuting workers.
The latest accident happened when a small truck carrying more than 70 garment workers overturned on a winding road in Kampong Speu province’s Samrong Tong district, according to local media reports.
Police told journalists that the vehicle had been travelling at an “excessively high speed”, and that eight of the 51 garment workers taken to hospital for treatment had been seriously injured.
