CALIFORNIA – Technology company EcoCart has raised US$14.5 million in Series A funding, which it’ll pile into the development of its carbon tracking solution and offsetting projects around the world.
The US firm – which boasts an internet browser extension that stakeholders from across industry can use to publicly disclose the environmental impact of online orders – is expected to allocate significant funding to its carbon offsetting work, which has helped offset more than 45,000 tonnes of carbon.
EcoCart’s co-founders Dane Baker and Peter Twomey commented: “Carbon offsetting is not the end-all-be-all solution to climate change, but it is crucial in our journey toward shaping a more sustainable and should be included in every brand’s sustainability strategy.”
