When fashion companies and trade unions agreed to set up a new body to hold brands accountable for workplace safety in Bangladesh last year, it was always intended that it would seek to expand to other garment manufacturing countries.
Joris Oldenziel, executive director of the International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry, recently updated Ecotextile News on how that work is progressing.
"We're looking into Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Morocco. It doesn't mean that it's already decided that we will go to these countries, nor does it mean that we won't go to other countries, but it does mean that we are going to prioritise those countries for now," he said.
