GENEVA - The Better Cotton initiative is working with leading brands and retailers, including Marks & Spencer, Zalando and Bestseller, on a new physical traceability system for the cotton supply chain.
The Better Cotton Traceability Panel, which has already raised an initial £1 million (US$1.3m) in funding, will work with suppliers, NGOs and independent experts in a bid to develop an approach that meets the needs of the modern industry.
Last year, we revealed that Better Cotton was working with brands and retailers on a new €25 million (US$28m) chain of custody system that would offer full physical traceability of its cotton from farm to garment, to supplement its mass balance system.
