LOS ANGELES – Materials science company Ambercycle has secured US$21.6 million in funding, with Zalando and the investment arms of Bestseller and H&M amongst its backers.
Ambercycle’s technology separates polyester-blended materials and chemically recycles the synthetic fibre to yield virgin-grade product which can be incorporated in new clothing.
“We are building an ecosystem in which materials can exist in harmony with humans and the environment. Our breakthrough molecular regeneration process enables a clear vision for circularity, in which fashion can flow in and out of our lives,” commented Ambercycle’s co-founder and CEO, Shay Sethi.
