NOUVELLE-AQUITAINE – German fashion company Zalando and French sporting gear retailer Decathlon are amongst the backers of a new shoe recycling programme launched in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
The ‘Reshoes’ programme is to be led by CETIA, said to be the “first innovation platform dedicated to the automated sorting and dismantling of end-of-life or unsold textile articles and footwear”.
“Shoes are the poor relation of recycling in Europe because the technical barriers are very complex to overcome. It is great news that such iconic players are working hand in hand to break down technological barriers and thus transform their industry,” said Chloé Salmon Legagneur, CETIA’s director.
