BRUSSELS - More than 80 per cent of consumers across the European Union (EU) back proposals for a mandatory due diligence law to make companies responsible for environmental and human rights violations in their global supply chains, according to a new poll.
The EU is currently drafting proposals which would make all companies operating within the single market responsible for environmental damage and the treatment of workers throughout their value chains.
The survey of 16,906 adults in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain was carried out by YouGov.
