UK scientists claim to have invented an ultra-low liquor ratio dyeing process for cotton that requires no salt – and has already being proven to work in commercial scale trials.
Making large-scale industrial dyeing processes more efficient is what really excites me. Innovation is critical to achieve this – but many of these advances stand very little chance of becoming mainstream. Instead, they are often destined for cottage industry type solutions.
This means that I often have to advise innovators, brands and investors that quite a lot of very clever textile science will probably not see life outside the laboratory.
