YANGON - Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi says garment factory owners who are flouting a government order to close their plants because of the coronavirus pandemic will face legal action.
Factories in the country have been ordered to close until inspections - due to be completed by the end of this month - have been carried out to ensure that they are safe for workers.
However, local media reports that several factories have failed to heeded the governmnent order. During a teleconference with Suu Kyi, U Pyi Thit Nyunt Wai, chair of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Myanmar, reported that at least four garment factories remained open in Yangon.
