LONDON - New research published by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) says there is a lack of scientific evidence to support extending the use of carbon credits to offset supply chain CO2 emissions.

The organisation, which validates corporate climate targets, created a storm in April when it released a statement suggesting it was planning to extend the use of environmental attribute certificates (EACs), or carbon credits, for scope 3 - the global supply chain.
