DHAKA - The US State Department has called on Bangladesh to revisit its decision on a new minimum wage for garment workers amidst further violent protests which left a 23-year-old woman dead.
Anjuara Khartun - who was reportedly shot by police - was the third garment worker to die during recent protests in Bangladesh where the minimum wage had been BDT 8,000 ($72) a month since 2018 until this week's decision to increase it by 56% to BDT 12,500 ($113).
