LONDON - The Better Cotton initiative is claiming significant progress in reducing pesticide and water use in India, as well as improvements in yields and farmer livelihoods, in a new report.
The organisation's 2023 India Impact Report charts the performance of Indian cotton farmers in the Better Cotton programme from the 2014/15 season right through to the 2021/22 season.
It is a new way of analysing performance for Better Cotton which is now tracking progress over time rather than its previous model of comparing Better Cotton farmers with those outside of the programme.
