STUTTGART - The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has announced that it is significantly raising the requirements for GOTS-certified gins to improve the integrity of its certified organic cotton.
The announcement comes after the Textile Exchange industry body last month announced it had tightened up the certification of organic cotton, in partnership with GOTS, in a bid to clampdown on fraud
From 1st December, cotton from GOTS-certified facilities will have to provide "traceability of all transaction certificate data back to the original farm source" to meet Textile Exchange's Organic Cotton Standard (OCS).
