DHAKA – The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been honoured with the Green Leadership Award 2021 for its work to make the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector more sustainable.
BGMEA president Faruque Hassan accepted the award at an event in Dhaka, and told the Business Standard: “Sustainability is not a sprint – it’s a marathon … we are committed to carry forward the environmental sustainability that we have achieved so far.”
Bangladeshi manufacturer Vintage Denim Studio Ltd was one of 10 businesses to also be awarded for its environmental credentials.
