NEW YORK – Textile innovator Ecovative has launched a sustainable fashion cooperative with Bestseller and PVH Corp – which owns Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein – with the view to co-developing mycelium-based materials for their product ranges.
Ecovative says it has the world’s “most complete mycelium library in the world” and can tweak the leather alternative’s properties depending on its client’s requirements.
“Mycelium provides us with an opportunity to respond to growing consumer interest in lower impact products while supporting quality and design that meet the needs and expectations of our consumers – in this case, made with 100 per cent bio-based resources,” said Rebecca England, PVH’s vice president of innovation for Europe.
