AMSTERDAM - Businesses, trade unions and NGOs in the Netherlands have begun negotiations on a new agreement to protect human rights, workers' rights, the environment and animal welfare in garment and textile supply chains.
Trade associations InRetail and Modint, trade unions FNV and CNV, and NGOs Solidaridad and UNICEF are behind the initiative which seeks to help companies meet forthcoming mandatory due diligence legislation.
They aim to help businesses ensure that their conduct is aligned with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines and the United Nations Guiding Principles (UNGPs) on business and human rights.
