YANGON - Garment workers in Myanmar are working in factories without measures to protect them from COVID-19, according to the IndustriALL global trade union.
The IndustriALL-affiliated Industrial Workers’ Federation of Myanmar (IWFM) says two of its members have died from coronavirus and more than 100 factory-level union leaders have been infected.
IWFM says that many garment manufacturers have ignored the health protocols implemented by the previous democratically-elected government since the military coup.
