SAN FRANCISCO – The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), along with its technology partner Higg, have released a new version of the Higg Product Module (PM) to evaluate the environmental impact of apparel, footwear and other consumer goods.
The idea of the tool is to measure the cradle-to-grave environmental impacts of a product from the point of resource extraction to manufacturing impacts, all the way through to product durability, care and finally to end of use.
With the completion of the new Higg PM, there are now five updated options within the suite of Higg Index tools to measure value chain environmental sustainability in manufactured products.
Already, more than 150 companies have already used the Higg PM to assess over 1,000 products in the clothing and footwear sectors including brands such as Pearl Izumi, Aldo Group and Brooks Running.
