GLOBAL – A coalition of workers’ rights NGOs have launched a website that lays out proposals for wage reform in the global garment industry.
Backed by the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC), Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) and Workers-driven Social Responsibility Network (WSRN), the ideas centre on making brands accountable for the affordance of a fair living wage.
“Brands’ CSR reports are full of promises regarding wages. Now it’s time for them to put their money where their mouth is,” said Anannya Bhattacharjee, president of the Garment and Allied Workers Union, one of many workers’ groups to have aligned with the initiative.
