GLOBAL – A new report launched by the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) non-profit has unearthed that, despite the pledges of leading fashion firms, not a single brand or retailer of the 108 it cross-checked pays all of its supply chain workers a living wage.

The findings of the Out of the Shadows report have been provided by the CCC’s Fashion Checker tool, which it launched in June with funding from the European Union. This platform reveals the supply networks of Europe and North America’s leading apparel brands and retailers and discloses where they’re based, annual revenues and profits and key sourcing nations, before marking each brand on issues including transparency, public commitment to paying a living wage and any action plan to achieve it.

Validating this data, the CCC has interviewed 490 garment workers from across China, India, Indonesia, Ukraine and Croatia, and been informed that many work excessive overtime and don’t receive a living wage.
