LONDON – Fashion retailer Primark has joined the United Nations’ Fashion Charter for Climate Action committing the company to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and a 30 per cent reduction by 2030.
Primark has pledged to tackle emissions from across its entire value chain, including ‘Scope 3' emissions outside its own operations which make up the vast majority of its carbon footprint.
The company has also agreed to analyse and set a decarbonisation pathway - drawing on methodologies from the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) - by signing up to the charter, part of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
