LONDON - The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) has announced it is to hold another inquiry into the environmental impact of the fashion industry and working conditions in UK garment factories.
The new probe will follow up the EAC's 2018 inquiry, Fixing fashion: clothing consumption and sustainability, which made 18 recommendations to then Prime Minister Theresa May's government, all of which were rejected.
Ongoing concerns, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, about the environmental impact of the industry and conditions in garment factories in Leicester which supply fast fashion retailer Boohoo have prompted the revisit.
