LEICESTER - Online fashion retailer Boohoo has promised to investigate claims that conditions in its supplier factories in Leicester contributed to the city's coronavirus spike.
It comes after Leicester was forced back into lockdown due to a rise in coronavirus infections, further damaging the reputation of the city’s textile manufacturing industry which has already plagued by allegations of low-pay and poor working conditions.
A Boohoo statement countered accusations made in a report by the Labour Behind the Label campaign group which alleged that Boohoo had disregarded responsible sourcing at the same time as enjoying a surge in profits during the coronavirus lockdown.
