DHAKA – The Annual Bangladesh Business Forum attracted more than 350 stakeholders in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector, from brand-level through to workers’ organisations, in the name of creating dialogue on how to bolster the country’s labour market governance and ensure sourcing practices.
Bangladesh garment exports are said to be in the region of US$34 billion per annum, and employs more than four million workers. The forum, put on by the Better Work Bangladesh (BWB) programme’s organisers – the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – was a platform to discuss future steps to safeguard workforces whilst ensuring prosperity.
