DHAKA – A new initiative introduced by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) will look to highlight progress made in the country’s garment manufacturing industry since the devastation of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in 2013, by offering the opportunity for industry stakeholders to partake in tours around volunteer factories.

According to BAE’s founder and CEO, Mostafiz Uddin, remediation off the back of Rana Plaza “has transformed factories in the country, which are now the safest in the global apparel industry,” however, “this fact often goes under reported outside our country.”

As part of the ‘We Make Your Clothes’ initiative, factories will accommodate guests to showcase the sustainable business practices – both with regards to social and environmental aspects – they’ve adopted, in an attempt to clear any stigma around the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry post-Rana Plaza.
