BUSAN - The heads of Decathlon, IKEA and textile recycling specialists Tomra and Terracycle, are among a group of 22 prominent CEOs whose companies have signed an open letter to heads of state ahead of the final round of negotiations in Busan, Republic of Korea, for a legally binding treaty to end plastic pollution.

Writing in their capacity as members of the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, which was co-convened by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and WWF, the letter calls on delegates at fifth session of the UN Environment Programme’s  intergovernmental negotiating committee, to seize the “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to address the plastic pollution crisis, while outlining the specific measures on which agreement is needed at for business to implement an effective treaty.
