BRUSSELS - A total of 22 global companies — including H&M, Adidas, IKEA and Decathlon — have sent a joint letter to European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen expressing concern over a delay to a planned revision of the REACH chemical regulations.
The EC recently confirmed that changes to the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) regulation, which were due early next year, would be postponed until the final quarter of 2023.
In their joint letter, the companies argue that REACH does not currently manage to effectively phase out the most harmful chemicals and is in desperate need of a revision.
