HAMBURG – Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) has reportedly made significant progress in its bid to pursue gender justice and redress imbalances for women involved in cotton production.
Highlighting the systemic disadvantages faced by female farmers in the cotton supply chain, a recent study from the CmiA’s shows women who take part in its initiative are able to serve as role models, offer other female farmers someone to turn to, and are able to establish co-operatives together with other women to increase both their autonomy and their financial independence by creating new sources of income.
