COLUMBIA - A US city is suing more than 40 textile companies and chemical manufacturers which it claims have polluted the municipal water supply with PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

Columbia, the state capital of South Carolina, could stand to win the $150 million estimated cost of filtration equipment to remove the chemicals if it wins the lawsuit, according to the city's The State newspaper.
