PARIS - French MPs have backed a bill which would restrict the manufacture, import and sale of "non-essential" products - including textiles - containing PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
Dubbed 'forever chemicals' for their durability in the environment, PFAS are widely used in water- and stain-proof coatings for textiles but have been linked to major health risks including liver damage, thyroid disease and cancer.
