SAN FRANCISCO – Gap Inc. has committed to Ambercycle's recycled polyester made from end-of-life textiles in its Athleta branded performance apparel from 2026.
Based in Los Angeles, Ambercycle uses enzymes to break down polyester into environmentally benign monomers for its ‘Cycora’ branded polyester, which it hopes to produce at commercial scale by 2025.
The news follows on from an announcement in October last year by fashion giant Inditex, which pledged €70 million to support Ambercycle over three years. We talked to Ambercycle CEO Shay Sethi about that earlier deal HERE.
