NEGOMBO - Fashion brand Hugo Boss has pledged to work with workers' rights campaigners following allegations of union busting at one of its supplier factories in Sri Lanka.
The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) claims the Lanka Leather Fashion factory has refused to recognise the workers' union and that several local union officials, including the organiser, treasurer and president, have been sacked.
It accuses Hugo Boss, one of the factory's main customers, of failing to ensure that Lanka Leather Fashion meets the requirements of its supplier code of conduct by allowing freedom of association.
