OTTAWA - Canada's corporate watchdog has launched an investigation into allegations that denim giant Levi's has supply chain links to forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China.
Sheri Meyerhoffer, the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE), opened the investigation after deciding that Levi's Canadian arm, Levi Strauss Canada, had a case to answer.
It comes after Meyerhoffer opened similar inquiries into a number of global brands including Nike, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss and Diesel, as well as retail giant Walmart.
