XINJIANG - The Investor Alliance for Human Rights is urging investors to carry out enhanced due diligence to ensure the brands and retailers they support have no links to human rights abuses in the Xingjiang region of China.

An estimated 1.8 million Uyghur Muslims, and other Turkic groups, have reportedly been rounded up in the Xinjiang region - China's cotton growing hub - in what has been described as the largest mass detention of people since World War II.

Many of them are forced to work in the region's cotton fields and textile factories, as well as other industries, and increasing pressure has been placed on fashion brands and retailers to sever their supply chain links there.
