GREENSBORO – North Carolina-based fibre innovator Unifi has announced that a new independent life cycle analysis (LCA) has confirmed significant environmental benefits for its Repreve-branded recycled polyester.
Repreve, which is made from post-consumer plastic bottles and pre-consumer waste, reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 42% compared to virgin filament yarn and by 60% compared to virgin staple fibre, according to the LCA study.
